Although multiview on YouTube TV is well known to work with larger screens, a new update makes the feature available on iOS devices—specifically, the iPhone and iPad—for even more streaming options.
Though there is no set date for when it will be accessible on Android, the experience will be available there in a few months.
On YouTube TV, users can broadcast four games or shows simultaneously by using multiview. Although it is accessible for YouTube TV’s other programs, the function is centered toward sports.
YouTube TV Multiview: Available on iOS
One Redditor posted about the Multiview functionality of YouTube TV last month, while another only last week. Reddit users have been reporting the feature’s introduction for iOS and iPadOS.
The fact that the feature is commonly available currently on version 8.11 or later, even though it varies depending on the Redditor’s experience, simply indicates that it has been gradually rolling out for iOS users.
It’s a start for the smaller screen’s access to the experience, albeit the YouTube TV iOS’s multiview is still restricted to certain games by the platform, in addition to the device and content limitations.
Redditors revealed that YouTube TV’s multiview on iOS would be in landscape orientation, with the tiny tiles encircling the entire four corners of the gadget.
YouTube TV Multiview on Android Coming Soon
The release of Android for Google’s smartphone operating system is still pending, but a Team YouTube Community Manager announced on Reddit that it will happen shortly. The business merely stated that it will be accessible “in the coming months,” without providing an exact date for when this will happen.
Multiview and YouTube TV
In January 2023, YouTube TV launched several viewing experiences for the first time. It first made available the multiview capability at this time, which it originally referred to as the “mosaic mode.” This feature allows for four small windows to be split into one screen.
Later on, it was recognized as the multiview, although it was restricted to sports events and games, with the other cable channels accessible only through the primary full-screen feed.
In the middle of 2023, YouTube TV gave viewers another opportunity to enjoy its multiview function by including non-sports channels, streams, and events.
This lets users watch both non-sports and gaming content on a single screen, but much like with standard multiview, it can only play one audio source.

Though there isn’t a set release date for Android, iOS users have noticed that it is currently possible to use multiview on smaller screens, such as those seen on iPhones and iPads, thanks to a recent upgrade.
