Japanese popular manga series “Golgo 13” tops record for most volumes

The 201st volume of popular Japanese manga series “Golgo 13” went on sale Monday, outperforming another Japanese comic’s record perceived in 2016 by Guinness World Records for the biggest number of volumes.

With the most recent volume, the comic about a professional killer by Takao Saito, running since 1968, beat “Kochira Katsushika-ku Kamearikoen-mae Hashutsujo” (This is the Police Box in Front of Kameari Park in Katsushika Ward), known as “Kochikame,” as far as volumes published for a solitary manga series.

“Before I knew it, I’d published 201 volumes, and I’m just grateful to all the readers,” Saito said.

The comic published by Leed Publishing Co. has been serialized in Shogakukan Inc’s. manga magazine Big Comic.

In the series, Duke Togo, a highly skilled professional killer for hire, takes on different tasks all throughout the world. In the most recent volume, the story rotates around a cryptocurrency.
