Facebook actually testing interoperability with WhatsApp and more

Facebook has been intending to consolidate Instagram, Messenger, and WhatsApp for some time. All the more recently, Instagram and Messenger got one and now there is some news about WhatsApp and Messenger integration too.

As per WABetaInfo, the Italian leaker Alessandro Paluzzi found a new hidden change in Facebook Messenger: a WhatsApp chat inside it.

It’s impractical yet to coordinate the two services, yet what Paluzzi did was simply force a thread to be perceived as a WhatsApp discussion to show how it will look when the feature is available later on.

The leaker infers that the connection between WhatsApp and Messenger will be absolutely optional as it as of now is between Instagram and Messenger. WABetaInfo says that “several features that have been already implemented on Facebook Messenger might likely come in WhatsApp too.”

Another feature the application is testing through the TestFlight beta program is a redesigned mention badge, which is not the same as a reply within a group chat.

WABetaInfo says it’s actually being tested for iOS so it may take some time prior to showing up in the WhatsApp account.

Recently, the application likewise brought a “Disappearing Messages” feature to all clients in a group chat and an improved media preview.
