Apple’s annual WWDC 2025 unveiled big updates, including the announcement that the iOS 26 public beta will be released in July 2025. Developers already got early access to the beta on June 9, but everyday users will soon be able to explore Apple’s biggest visual overhaul since iOS 7.
This update introduces rounded icons, a revamped Control Center, and a striking new design language called “liquid glass,” offering a translucent visual style across widgets, home screen elements, and a new all-clear mode, in addition to light and dark themes.
Apple is also renaming its OS lineup to align with the year — so instead of iOS 19, users get iOS 26, while platforms like iPadOS, macOS, and watchOS will also adopt this new naming format. Notably, macOS 26 will be called Tahoe, continuing the tradition of California-themed names.
New features in iOS 26 include:
- Typing indicators in group chats
- Live translation across iMessage, FaceTime, and phone calls, even when the recipient isn’t using an iPhone
These updates signal Apple’s commitment to a more unified, futuristic user experience across all devices. The public beta will be available through the Apple Beta Software Program in July, with the official launch expected later this year.
