Chicago White Sox Officially Actuate Liam Hendriks From IL

After Liam Hendriks’s battle with cancer delayed the start of his season, the Chicago White Sox have made it official by removing him from the injured list and bringing him back into the lineup.

Hendriks, who was recently given the news that he had non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma earlier this year, has been working out in the bullpen and recently went on a rehab assignment with the White Sox. Now, he will return to the team’s bullpen in the hopes of helping the team get back on track after their struggles in the first few games of the season.

The White Sox placed pitcher Jimmy Lambert on the injured list with right-ankle inflammation to make room for Hendriks on the active roster.

The White Sox used Hendriks for 37 saves in 57.2 innings, striking out 85 batters and walking 16. He made the American League All-Star team for the third time in four seasons and had a WHIP of 1.04.

Hendriks has made 127 appearances for the White Sox, going 12-7 with a 2.66 earned run average and 75 saves.

The White Sox will have Hendriks available to pitch Monday night when they begin their three-game series with the Los Angeles Angels.
